Leadership Committee

Our core mission is to foster our members' potential to become a leader. The leadership committee involves a selective amount of members who have a strong desire to develop and challenge themselves. The group is given the opportunity to shadow current E-Board and play an integrated role in the marketing and recruiting aspects of the club. The leadership committee has two focus: marketing division and recruiting division.

In addition, the head of the leadership committee take on a huge responsibility in running the committee. It is their responsibility to report to the executive board and act as the liaison between the leadership committee with the executive board.

Overall, the leadership committee won't just be another line for your resume: it is real experience you would get as an E-Board. Just ask the four current E-Boards who were part of the leadership committee last year.

My name is Jin Chen and I am a senior majoring in accounting. I joined SOMMA in my junior year and found out this is a great place because it let's people to bond and provides opportunities to help me develop as a leader. I joined marketing committee because I believe SOMMA is a great club that is worth more people to join. I always try to develop knowledge and skills to contribute to the organization. As a committee chari for the marketing division, I will work with my committee members and try our best to make SOMMA more well known and stronger.

My name is Jenna Qian and I am a junior in business administration, with a concentration in finance. I joined SOMMA in Fall 2016. I am very excited to participate in the National Diversity Case Competition in January 2017. I knew SOMMA was a perfect fit for me because it is filled with ambitious individuals who wants to achieve their dream career.

I am a first generation college student, and my first year experience was challenging. With the support from Educational Opportunity Program (EOP), I was able to get a sense of direction. This strong support motivates me to help other minorities transition into college life. I want SOMMA to be their assistant, a resume builder, and a chance to become leaders. As a committee chair for the recruiting division, I will do my best to promote SOMMA to the UB community in cooperation with my committee members.
